Community Shred Day – September 2016

As an Augusta area provider of secure shredding services, we understand the environmental and safety reasons to seek out mobile or plant-based shredding for your business documents. However, we also recognize the need for security of personal documents and information in the private sector, which is why we often team up with local area organizations to provide a community shred day. Last Saturday, we hosted a free shred fest in partnership with WJBF News Channel 6, Augusta Metro Federal Credit Union, Peach State Federal Credit Union and the Augusta Area Chapter of Credit Unions.

Community Shred Day provides an opportunity for local area residents to seek out bulk shredding services for their personal documents at no cost to them. During Saturday’s event we saw over 280 cars with boxes and bags full of old and out dated papers. Attendees pulled up to one of our mobile shred units, dumped their items into one of our secure shred bins and were able to watch their papers being shredded at the event. If you missed out, check out this great video recap from the day, and make sure to stay tuned to our Facebook page for announcements about future events.

After all the cars passed through we were able to shred over 12,000 lbs. of paper (6 Tons!). Based on calculations from the EPA we were able to make quite an impact on local landfill space and the environment after our event. Here is a quick infographic with a summary of our environmental savings from just ONE shred day event, pretty crazy, right?

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in our community shred day and all the the great local organizations who helped us put it together. We are happy you were all able to take advantage of this secure and environmentally friendly way to get rid of all your bulk paper and outdated personal records.
