Tips for Storing your Office Files
The beginning of the year is here, and your office is like many others. It’s time to put those old files away and make room for the upcoming year. Here are a few things that you should consider when boxing up all of those important documents:
- What kind of box are you going to use? Most offices use the standard size banker’s box that’s 15.5” deep, while others use the slightly longer bankers box that’s 24 “ deep. Which ever one you choose to use, keep the size standard for optimal use of storage space.
- How much does that box weigh? A standard size bankers box when full of paper will average 35 pounds in weight, while the large size box can be well over 50 pounds when full.
- Does your storage space have the capability to store the weight of your boxes? Some times people will simply place their boxes in their office attic or on wire shelving, often without the proper support needed to hold the weight of the boxes. If you have 40 boxes to store you could potentially have 2,000 pounds of weight! Don’t let your ceiling or shelves fall on you!
- Consider using an offsite records storage facility such as Augusta Data Storage to safely and securely store your boxes. We can pick up the boxes from you, categorize the inventory, and store them for you in our facility. This will eliminate the hassle of packing, toting, and storing the boxes in your attic or closets.
